AIDS & STD'S Dave's comments: Everyone needs to be responsible for their actions based on knowledge and facts as to the relative risk of different activities. We drive a car every day. The risk of death from being killed in an auto accident, even if wearing a seat belt is far greater than the risk of getting AIDS from someone not in a high risk group. Some people may decide to walk everywhere instead of drive a car. . I encourage everyone to learn the facts to make informed decisions. If you are not comfortable with the risk it's your responsibility to practice safer sex and it is your partners responsibility to respect your decision Non-monogamous people should get tested routinely for HIV antibodies *and for other STD's*, and communicate the results to all their partners. Also there are far too many cases of HIV transmission where one partner thinks the relationship is monogamous when in fact the male may be secretly having unprotected anal intercourse with other males and passes on HIV to his female partner. Women have a much higher risk of HIV infection from men then men do from women. Other STD's and unwanted pregnancy are much more real issues for non iv drug using heterosexuals than HIV. Many STD's can't be easily detected by testing. If you or your partner are not willing to take the risk of possible STD transmission, condoms and other safer sex practices should be fully utilized. In swinging there are risks of unprotected sex, especially Colds, flu & bronchial infections, Urinary Track Infections (UTI) Yeast Infections, and Genital Herpes or Genital Warts.
