The huge cost of unwanted fetuses:

The Associated Press in Detroit reported Michigan's ban on Medicaid funded abortions has cost seven times more in birth-related expenses than abortions would have, according to studies released at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan.

While the number of abortions dropped 23% annually since the ban took effect, the number of births has risen only 8%. Before the ban, the state paid $6 million per year for about 18,000 Medicaid abortions. Researchers at the two universities estimated that 2,120 of the 5,800 births in 1991 (3 years after the ban went into effect) were to poor women on Medicaid who would otherwise have had abortions.

To support this group of children in 1991 alone, the state paid between $51 million and $139 million in prenatal care, childbirth expenses and welfare. A spokesman for the state Department of Social Services said that the estimates in the studies of the costs of the pregnancies were "possibly low".

The medical profession makes a great deal more money if abortion was illegal since having babies is much much more expensive both in medical costs and the huge cost to society of more unwanted kids. Every child should be wanted. Abortion should be free and available to all during first trimester when medically no upper brain stem function and religiously no soul from both a scriptural Christian and Jewish view.

In addition, The risk of death in childbirth is 11 times greater than in abortion. It comes down to WHOSE life is cared about more - the women or the fetus. The women has invested many years of love, education, hopes, yet unfulfilled dreams, caring family, friends. SHE is here now and can have ANOTHER baby if she wishes when she really wants one.
