Operation Rescue is a perfect
example of perverted Christian views that twist the bible to say what it doesn't
and work on people's emotions with scriptural and medical lies. The cardinal of
Philadelphia has condemned its work.
However I applaud what Operation is Rescue is actually doing for people that are
undecided. Their fanaticism and self-righteous circus has done more for the Pro-Choice
position since many see Operation Rescue as the emotional fanatics they are.
What is particularly disturbing to me is the Christians insistence on lack of religious
freedom. They want all the freedom for choosing what is right for everyone else.
Yet consider the Jewish women. Jewish law is not Pro-Choice. It REQUIRES an abortion
if the women's health (mental or physical) is in question.
What right to Christians have to interfere with the rights of Jewish, or any other
women's whose belief is different from yours. This is about CHOICE folks the American
Freedom of Religion and Privacy in personal decisions.
It is clearly not about killing or murder. "Thou shalt not kill" applies
to persons.There's no such command against killing plants, animals, tumors, germs,
etc. What distinguishes humans from other animals is the developed outer layers
of the human brain "gray matter" which is the cerebral cortex. The cerebral
cortex is the seat of human emotions, perceptions, sensations and all other traits
we consider uniquely human. At the start of the 3rd trimester, the fetus has a reasonable
chance of survival outside the womb. It is also at this point the cerebral cortex
starts to function.
In the first trimester when 90% of all abortions are performed, their is no functioning
of the cerebral cortex clearly nothing that distinguishes it as human. The only
nero function is nothing more than very primitive brain stem activity which control
autonomic responses. The cerebral cortex doesn't start to function until about the
same time as the outer edge of viability - 20 to 22 weeks, long after most abortions
are done.
So much for the lies about killing in the Bible having anything to do with abortion.
While the Bible does give examples of lots of abortions, it no where suggests it
is wrong and clearly aborting a first trimester embryo has absolutely nothing to
do with the Biblical condemnation of "murder"
